With every new sun that rises we are given one more day to fly...
Over the past 7 years how many waves have rolled in... to warm us with comfort, to knock us down over and over again?...too busy gathering up and reclaimiong our life to count them.
Some days heavy as this cast iron discard, rusted with age and elements.
But through it all I saw you as strong as these boulders, building walls of rock to protect our family from the stormy waters.
Over that 7 years we saw two of our children grow into adults...almost overnight, graduate high school, and spread their wings and go off to college. And they saw their Dad return to college and graduate summa com laude...how proud the days were... now and then...
It's your day my Arnie...your 7th anniversary of a "whole new life", one you embraced with fruitful acceptance and forgiveness....
I know you are tired...
I am too...
Come, climb upon my wings...
Rest your own...
I don't know where we are headed... but, as long as the sky is blue and above us, as long as the wind blows, and as long as we love we can fly...together, on a wing and prayer.
I love you my Arnie!

Words are my feelings on this day the 7th anniversary of my beloved husband being paralyzed in an operating room. Pictures taken at our beach as we walked/wheeled God's playground. |
Oh Carolyn, I was just visiting to see what you have been up to, and am blown away by the beauty of the words and photos that you have posted. You and Arnie are so blessed and I love sharing your life with you.

Carolyn,
I am so happy that I've found your blog again. I've read it many times but did not know your name. You visited me at Country Charm and left a sweet comment but I couldn't get back to your blog. A couple of nights ago I thought I think Carolyn must be the lady that has the beautiful terracotta pot with thyme written on it.
It sounds that you've taken adversity and used it to your advantage and that God has blessed you both in your marriage. I posted a love story last week about tragedy that was delt to a couple.
Please come again for a visit and I certainly shall be back to visit with you......

I was going to send this privately, but knew I had to post it here after this so very touching tribute to yours and Arnie's love. I am just so honored to be your friend because....
You came along when I needed you most
You held my hand, you held me close.
You showed me that tomorrow the sun will shine
And that life isn't bad all the time.
You gave me a hug when I needed it most
Whether it be virtual or real.
Somehow, you always seem to know
Just how I feel.
You gave me a shoulder to lean on
When I felt too weak to stand alone
You helped me see that I am strong,
And I'm never on my own.
For all that you do for me,
I am so very grateful.
And each night I find the brightest star
And thank God for giving me a friend
with such a caring heart.

Love and Hugs, JS

That Van Dyke quotation always ytouches me to the heart, Carolyn - as does the story of you and Arnie. I hope you know just what an inspiration you are to so many people.
Beautiful photographs to go with your beautiful words - living with such an artist must make Arnie's heart lift as much as his love makes your own heart soar.
And thanks, Arnie, for being such an inspiration to so many of us - your lives together teach me something new and precious every day.

I think you two realize what's truly important in this world and are fortunate enough to have found each other early on. Time and circumstance hasn't dulled that love you have for each other. The beach is a lovely spot to enjoy the day and each other. Hugs to you both.
